A physical altercation at Cameron Memorial Hospital has led to felony and misdemeanor charges against a Tekonsha man.
According to the Herald Republican, 25-year-old Jacob Massey was taken to the hospital after being found unconscious at a Fremont business early Saturday morning. Once revived, he became combative and kicked an E.M.T. who was trying to restrain him. He later managed to free himself and kicked a nurse.
Angola Police were called around 4:20 AM, and when they took him to be booked at the Steuben County Jail, he refused to leave the vehicle, forcing officers to physically remove him.
Massey was arraigned Monday on a Level 6 felony charge of battery against a public safety official and a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery causing moderate bodily injury. A “not guilty” plea was entered on his behalf, and he remains behind bars on $3,000 bond. If he is released, he’s been ordered to have no contact with the E.M.T. or the nurse.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for August 10th.
