Culvert Replacement Requires Major Williams Co. Detour

by Josh Colletta

The Ohio Department of Transportation has set the date for road work in Williams County that’s going to require a rather significant detour.

Starting Monday, July 6th, and continuing through the middle of August, the Bryan Times reports that Ohio 49 will be closed for a culvert replacement between C.R. E and C.R. E.75 — the section north of Edgerton, south of the bend.

The section of Ohio 49 that will be closed from early July through mid-August.
The detour route around the Ohio 49 closure.

While other local roads in the area will remain open, they cannot handle the traffic that the state highway does every day, and the roads that can handle it are quite out of the way, but they form the official detour route.

That route, from south to north, takes U.S. 6 to the east out of Edgerton, turns north on Ohio 576 west of Bryan, then turns back northwest on Ohio 34 to Blakeslee, following 34 north out of town, then again to the west into Edon, where it rejoins 49.
