Pierce Resigns From Coldwater Council; Cites Personal Reasons

by Josh Colletta

WTVB and the Daily Reporter say it was with deep regret that the Coldwater City Council accepted the resignation of longtime Ward 2 council member Chris Pierce on Monday night.

According to Mayor Tom Kramer, Pierce is stepping down for personal reasons.

Pierce has been on the council for multiple stints in a public service career that stops short of 30 years. He first served from 1992 to 1993, returned in 1997 and served until 2005, then was elected once again in 2007, and has been on the council ever since.

Ward 2 council member Jim Knaack will be taking applications for those interested in filling the vacancy left by Pierce. Knaack will review those applications and make a recommendation to the council for an appointment by March 23rd. The appointee would complete the remainder of the term until November of 2021.
