It’s National Magic Week, as set by the Society of American Magicians, and the Fulton County Expositor says that fact has been recognized in Wauseon by an official proclamation signed by Mayor Kathy Huner.
National Magic Week is not tied to a calendar week, but instead is recognized from October 25th to the 31st each year.
The week celebrate the charitable work performed by S.A.M. assemblies and members, and its roots date back some 90 years.
In 1927, less than one year after the death of Harry Houdini, calls for a Houdini Day had become well known, and Mrs. Houdini officially gave her approval to make October 31st an officially sanctioned National Magic Day in her husband’s honor. Over time, National Magic Day evolved into National Magic Week.
Dr. Kenneth Ladd, the resident magician at the Magic Corner in Wauseon, is a member of the Society of American Magicians. He will be observing National Magic Week with special events each day.
