Connecticut’s highest court ruled today that gun maker Remington can be sued over how it marketed the AR-15 rifle for civilian use.
The Sandy Hook shooting took place on December 14th, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut. Adam Lanza fatally shot 26 people, 20 of which were children and 6 were adults. Prior to him arriving at the school Adam fatally shot his mother at their home.
Today’s decision overturns the courts earlier dismissal of the case after a lower court said gun makers have immunity from liability. The justices issued a 4-3 decision in favor of 10 Sandy Hook families for the lawsuit to go back to Bridgeport Superior Court.
