UPDATE (3:50 PM): CNN reports that the previously mentioned suspect, now identified as Gokmen Tanis, has been arrested.
The search continues for a 37-year-old Turkish man, believed to be at least one of the possible shooters behind this morning’s attack on a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht.
Police continue to investigate after three people were killed and nine more were injured.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte saying plainly, “We are stronger than fanatics.”
But while terrorism is a possibility, the police say they’re not jumping to any conclusions, as an officer explained to CNN’s Richard Quest.
“One of the scenarios is that it’s terrorism, but we’re not sure because we don’t have a suspect at the moment. But what we do have, our forensic guys are working here and we’ve got a lot of people who were in the tram and altogether we’re trying to get a picture of what had happened here exactly.”
The officer added that authorities are unsure if there was just one shooter or if there were others involved.
